For 'Her'...
A person who never held a grudge. That's the best possible way to describe my grandmother. My grandmother, Mary Shakunthala David or my Dama (as I fondly call her), was the woman I lived with for fourteen years of my life. She was strong, independent, extremely adamant and incredibly energetic that she could talk for hours! It was because of all these mixed qualities that there was never a day when we didn't fight. And if there was a day like that, then I would consider it a bad day.
I can't possibly fit the fights we've had in a single page but if there's one I have to mention then it's the fact that no matter what, we always had each other's back. Like the times when I skipped classes and told Dama that I don't want to go, she'd call and tell my teacher that I won't be in today because I'm sick! Or when I knew for a fact that she didn't take her pills that day and when I'm questioned about it by my parents especially dad, I'd say "of course, she did!" So yes, our relationship included a bunch of "white lies" too.
My grandmother was my best friend. She was there whenever I needed her and she would barge in even if I didn't want her to. It's truly a blessing that I had someone like that in my life. She changed me and moulded me for the better. She taught me how to be strong when there are hurdles everywhere. And I still remember what she once told me, she said that "There are hurdles and difficulties in your life because God knows that you are strong enough to handle it."
I cannot thank her enough for all that she's taught me and I thank God for giving me such an amazing grandparent who's love for me and my family was endless.
I miss her, my best friend, my comforter and my guardian, every single day. I love you, Dama.
Thank you for everything.

Mummy being your daughter I would like to share a couple of my memories not just what i could recall but as a voice of Nimmu, Stella and Thambi as well. You were a very loving and caring mom like any other mom too. You were strict in your own ways as a doting mother of four children starting from restricting us to wear modern dress to avoid speaking to strangers and that has helped us to be those ever disciplined children . You taught us to do all the household which helped us to build our families with not just a house but transform our house into a sweet home. Your guidance and never ending efforts to make us read Bible and pray has helped us grow spiritually which has paved way for us to overcome so many struggles in life trusting in the Lord and not Man. Your love for Carnatic music have always been a true inspiration for all of us and that lead us to sing songs in Church and we were known as " Three Sisters" in All Saints Church Triplicane. Your love for people no matter whether they are related or not, but you used to be the first one to lend that helping hand in times of need taught us to extend help for many who needs support and we are truly following it until now. Your unconditional love for Thambi has helped him grow and succeed in life both personally and professionally effortlessly. Post the wedding of all three of us ( daughters) Thambu spent his life prioritising you and ensured to take care of you till the last minute of your breath. I am sure that all four of us share the same sentiments. Thank you Mummy for all the love care and kindness that was showered on all of us. We aim to continue to follow your legacy and be a blessing to many around us as that's gonna be a true testimony celebrating your life . You will continue to live forever in our hearts and i am sure we have your blessings from above!! You are being missed and will be loved forever Ma!!!

Mummy It's been 12 years since you left us with your memories. There isn't a day I forgot about you and missed you. You always told me to seek God in everything rather than humans. I believe I'm still following your words as always. Your love and concern for your grandchildren is always indescribable. Eventhough Jemima & Clement doesn't have much memories with you, they still remember the weekend outings with you and the colouring books you coloured with them. You always bought them things they asked for. I'm sure they will cherish these memories in their heart. You are the light in our lives mummy and thank you for loving us unconditionally.. I'll always love you and miss you mummy.
