Jabamalai Peter
'JP' as fondly referred and truly our 'PRINCY'
Every VANAVANIAN Student & Teacher admired this towering personality. She never needed a MIC and her voice still resonates within me.
Synonymous & an Epitome of Discipline.
YES - She was Our IRON Lady of VANAVANI and her name resonated across the schools, of then Madras.
She was our PRIDE and she ensured that VANAVANI was one of the coveted schools of MADRAS.
She aged very gracefully but never compromised on her immaculate dressing sense. Her Lipstick & Perfume were ahead of times for any MADARASI then.
Wherever | Whichever | Whenever - there is a school reunion, it cannot be complete without having spoken about JP.
She has had her role in what we are today. JP for every Vanavanian is a ROCKSTAR, indeed !

Teacher who mentored me for what i am today. May her soul RIP

Mrs Jebamalai Peter! While every woman teacher admired her, among other things, for her impeccable dressing sense, I was really impressed with her humane administration. She remembered the name of every student & staff &gave greater care to help them in every possible way .Everyone felt that she /he was special to her when she addressed them by their names(me, being called " mani" as at home)I felt the school as school& thus she involves Everyone in the service of the School. She is a friend who cared to help anyone seeking her help.Happy memorable days I had as a teacher in Hindi from72to78.at Vanavani. It was a close - knit family She kept in touch with me even after my leaving her schoolenquiring about my welfare&that of my family. Last but not least, her HANDWRITING!Superb& spectacular!!May her soul rest in Peace! .

Our Beloved JP Madam , our principal was known for her discipline and strong teaching standards . She had the ability to see through every student and bring the best out of everyone . She treated me like her own son and provided me care & proper advise to build my character & even reprimanded me for the odd reckless behaviour . I will miss her as energy other student . - Prayers for her soul to Rest In Peace !

Mrs .Jabamalai Peters was my school teacher in 1963.After my teacher's training, I came to know that Father Murphy started a school at I .I.T and JP was appointed as principal. When I came to know about that, I visited JP and expressed my interest in joining in V V.She agreed.I was only a secondary grade teacher.JP encouraged me for higher studies . Earning and learning raised to MA.MEd range. She was like God Mother to me.She had good memory power. She went to start a new school at Sadrass and returned after few years.Mrs.Vijayakrisna was acting principal at that time.As soon as I saw her..she said....Valli..I saw your son in 4 th STD. I was surprised and admired about her memory. My English influence developed because of her. After my retirement I worked at Gothan in Rajasthan as a spoken English Teacher. The credit goes to her.My sincere pranams to her. 🙏🏻

We call her JP - a lioness legacy lady. She is strict as a Princy, but gentle as our mother. All Vanavanian's from staff to students respect her a lot. Her walk through the school corridors to a sudden class check, always maintained decorum, discipline and dignity. Her neat dressing and her majestic walk still can be visualised. She will all-day be so fresh as a morning flower, with full of fragrance. Loved my school days with her moral science classes. In our VV Golden Jubilee meet, to seek her blessings i neared her and asked "Mam how are You" - she replied, I'm fine yogesh & how are you & your family - I was surprised & shocked to see her remember me so well, after almost a couple of decades. That's our princy...what more a student of hers wants... We won't have another person like you Mam. She is the one & only JP. May she rest in peace & be an angel for many. Staffs & students who were in acquaintance with JP will miss her. R.Yogeshwaran Batch'89
